This is a simple blog to half heartedly examine all types.
SUMBMITS ARE APPRICIATED.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is a self-report instrument that helps to identify an individual’s strengths and personality preferences. Published in 1921, MBTI is one of the most widely used personality instruments in the world.

Every type has it’s highlights, and points as to where you can pick apart and enjoy.

We endlessly calculate because it gives us our high - “the calm.”
INTJ’s ability to focus and get things done is born out of single-mindedness.

Cries

Cries:
The question of the function or origin of emotional tears is still open. Theories range from the simple such as response to inflicted pain to the more complex including nonverbal communication in order to elicit helping behaviour from others.

No other species on the planet can shed emotional tears. As a result scientists believe that crying must be caused by some especially complexhuman behaviour. Over a hundred years ago Darwin said that crying was used to attract attention, particularly in children. He said that tears act like a red flag to signal distress.

Recent psychological theories of crying emphasize its relationship to the experience of perceived helplessness. From this perspective, an underlying experience of helplessness can explain why people cry in most situations; for example, a person may cry after receiving surprisingly happy news, ostensibly because the person feels powerless or helpless to influence the events that are taking place.

Crying or weeping (physic tears): is increased lacrimation due to strong emotional stress, depression or physical pain. This practice is not restricted to negative emotions; many people have been known to cry when extremely happy or when they are laughing. In humans, emotional tears can be accompanied by reddening of the face and sobbing — cough-like, convulsive breathing, sometimes involving spasms of the whole upper body. Tears brought about by emotions have a different chemical make up than those for lubrication. The limbic system is involved in production of basic emotional drives, such as anger, fear, etc. The limbic system also has a degree of control over the autonomic system. This is more specifically the hypothalamus. It is the parasympathetic system that controls the lacrimal glands. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter specific to both the nicotinic and muscarinic receptors. It is when the receptors are activated that the lacrimal gland is stimulated to produce tears.

Photo

Brutally Honest MBTI

Brutally Honest MBTI:
thatintp:

Notice what is actual and present - the information taken in by the five senses - sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste

Trust and give weight to facts and practical, realistic data

Reach or accept generalizations only after they have accumulated enough concrete evidence to feel certain about things

Have a mass of accumulated data from their experience that they use to test all new information

Intuition (N)

Notice specifics but move very quickly to connecting them to other information to see patterns

Trust and give weight to the patterns they see, their associations to other ideas

Readily generalise from sparse actual data

Test new information by whether it fits (connects) with their intuitive patterns

Words generally associated with Sensing and Intuition

Sensing (S)

Intuition (N)

And have you ever noticed how, when you’re really stressed out, that you’re just not yourself - in fact, that you’re almost the opposite of yourself? There’s a good reason for that! It’s because, under great stress, our personality types turn themselves inside out and “flip” into your opposite four letters - but usually not in the greatest way. So if you prefer Introversion and get really stressed out, you may flip into Extraversion - but in an exaggerated way, like blurting something out. Or if you prefer Extraversion, you may flip into Introversion - but in an exaggerated way, like completely withdrawing.

Below are descriptions of each type when they’re really stressed out. If you find yourself sounding like the “flip side” description for your type, then you know you’re right in the thick of being stressed out.

ISTJ and ISFJ: Under stress, become “The Dramatizer,” catastrophizing about what’s happening. Flip Side Motto: “EVERYTHING is a disaster!”

INTJ and INFJ: Under stress, become “The Indulger,” over-indulging in anything sensory, like eating, cleaning, or exercising. Flip Side Motto: “I need MORE!”

ISTP and INTP: Under stress, become “The Emoter,” being overly-sensitive and overly-emotional with people they’re close to. Flip Side Motto: “I need to express my FEELINGS!”

ISFP and INFP: Under stress, become “The Criticizer,” being negative about others and self. Flip Side Motto: “Everyone’s an IDIOT, including me!”

ESFP and ESTP: Under stress, become “The Exaggerator,” worrying about doom-and-gloom scenarios. Flip Side Motto: “Everything is going to go WRONG!”

ENFP and ENTP: Under stress, become “The Obsessor,” obsessing about facts and details. Flip Side Motto: “This ONE thing is absolutely important!”

ESTJ and ENTJ: Under stress, become “The Martyr,” feeling unloved and unappreciated. Flip Side Motto: “No one APPRECIATES me!”

ESFJ and ENFJ: Under stress, become “The Condemner,” being extremely critical and condemning of others and themselves. Flip Side Motto: “I am SO done with you!”

Typically they’ll be there before heading to a small divey but not too divey bar to have a moderately pretentious microbrew with their one other friend.
Pickup technique: Ask them about Rilke, social justice, chai tea.

ENFJ-
Why you want one: They’re warm, friendly, and very concerned about your happiness.
Spoiler Alert: You’ll always be surrounded by a lot of people, not really for homebodies.
Where to find one: At a party they are hosting for their friends in their home. They’re busy making sure everyone is happy, and stressing out about nonexistent riffs between their guests.
Pickup technique: Ask to help, compliment how much fun everyone is having. Tell them some juicy gossip. Try not to feel bad when they have to give attention to all the other plebey party guests.

ESTP-
Why you want one: Know Jeremy Piven in Entourage? Sometimes it just feels good to be around an asshole.
Spoiler Alert: Followed to its logical conclusion, this personality type can also be called ‘sociopathic.’
Where to find one: The clubbiest of clubs, near edge of the dancefloor where they’re looking to shove their tongue down someones throat for awhile and then have some aggressive sex before they leave without saying anything.
Pickup technique: Maybe the easiest to pickup, just try to look good and get in their line of vision. Be aggressive.

ISTP/ISTJ-
Why you want one: Not really sure you do? Maybe you’re an ISTP or ISTJ yourself. Maybe you have really low self esteem and don’t feel like you ‘deserve’ someone interesting.
Spoiler Alert: Boring. Probably cares about things like ‘baking’ and ‘crafting.’
Where to find one: Jesus, I don’t even know, doing something really boring by themselves. Buying tax prep software at Best Buy? On a long solo walk in the woods?
Pickup technique: Is anyone really interested in this?

ESTJ-
Why you want one: Might be a more reliable fuck buddy than an ESTP.
Spoiler Alert: Kind of boring, possibly sexually attracted to day planners.
Where to find one: Out with their friends, policing the fun.
Pickup technique: Make a really boring and unnecessary statement about the progress of the night. Show them your day planner + coding system.

ENFP-
Why you want one: Passionate, unpredictable, absolutely always interesting.
Spoiler Alert: Not loyal to people or ideologies. One day it’s yoga, the next it’s kickboxing. One day it’s Theravada Buddhism, the next it’s Assemblies of God. This applies to their romantic life.
Where to find one: The clubbiest of clubs, in the middle of the dancefloor, possibly on X.
Pickup technique: Wear some bright colors, talk about how you bathed in the Ganges to get salvation, give them drugs, promise to get tantric. Beware of passionate yet very sloppy kisses.

INFP-
Why you want one: They’ll read you poetry and rub your back while you fall asleep, they have the most comfortable beds.
Spoiler Alert: May suffocate you with intensity. May cry during a commercial for McDonald’s.
Where to find one: Getting existential at some dive bar with a small but intense looking group of people who all look remotely like someone who used to babysit you.
Pickup technique: Say you think care ethics is an overlooked school of thought or that you ‘really resonate’ with Joni Mitchell or anything else deep + nice sounding.

ESFP-
Why you want one: They’re warm, easy to like, and fun to be around.
Spoiler Alert: They are only ever motivated by what will get them the most amounts of attention possible. This gets old.
Where to find one: Hanging with their bros at a bar, being as loud as possible, telling hilarious jokes, bein’ a bro.
Pickup technique: Challenge them to a game. Preferably fetch, as there is no distinguishable difference between an ESFP and a labrador retriever.

ISFP-
Why you want one: They’re the perfect person to talk about your work dramz with over a game of tennis. They’re smiley and cute and really good at interior decorating.
Spoiler Alert: They don’t mature past the age of 15.
Where to find one: Hanging with their one bro at a bar, probably not talking but smiling and and genuinely enjoying themselves.
Pickup technique: Talk about animals and/or children. Make a comment about aesthetics in some capacity, except don’t use the word ‘aesthetics’ because they won’t know what it means.

INTP-
Why you want one: They’re really smart and make up for being awkward + not really sexy by having a lot of interesting things to say.
Spoiler Alert: You’ll get tired of them making jokes about ninjas and Lord of the Rings. Probable addiction to World of Warcraft.
Where to find one: At their friend’s house drinking whiskey Cokes and watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.
Pickup technique: Wear something slutty + talk about science/robots/the singularity.

ENTP-
Why you want one: They have the best circle of smart and interesting friends, they’re laidback, they give great advice.
Spoiler Alert: They’ll never put another person ahead of their own interests, self-involved.
Where to find one: Out with their friends at a bar they take issue with for one reason or another (cf: hipster), but enjoying themselves as long as everyone knows they’re too smart for whatever beneath-them drinking game is going on.
Pickup technique: Intersperse non-sequitor jokes and puns with douchey statements like ‘Thomas Pynchon is the only funny postmoderist.’

INTJ-
Why you want one: It’s kind of intoxicating to be around someone this smart and serious. It’s really sexy for as long as you can go without getting compliments/any affirmation that they like you back.
Spoiler Alert: Oblivious misers.
Where to find one: Home alone, reading something really interesting, generally not giving a fuck.
Pickup technique: Figure out what they’re interested in and make insightful comments. Don’t expect any affirmation or acknowledgment that they heard you.

ENTJ-
Why you want one: They’ll give you great advice and push you to follow through on it.
Spoiler Alert: Loud talkers, stubborn, make black-and-white decisions.
Where to find one: At a weird event with their friends. Like ‘Julius and Ethel Rosenberg discussion group’ type weird. They’re the one taking notes or serving a pretentious dish.
Pickup techniques: Make aggressive but smart statements. Talk about why you’re right. Use historical examples but also throw in something about Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

ESFJ-
Why you want one: Literally your standard bro or prototypical ‘wife material.’
Spoiler alert: They’re not that interesting. They’re mega-sensitive but not likely to be able to communicate why. And not in the brooding, artsy way, in the self-righteous way.
Where to find one: Hanging with their bros, they’re the one with their cell clipped to their belt and their shirt tucked in.
Pickup techniques: Tell them why their sports team of choice ‘deserved’ to make the playoffs because they really ‘wanted it.’

Photo

phiLOLZophy: Myers-Briggs Types as Exemplified by Popular Television/Movie Characters

phiLOLZophy: Myers-Briggs Types as Exemplified by Popular Television/Movie Characters:
philolzophy:

So we were asked to explain the various Myers-Briggs types in our own words after we posted a few things about the Kardashians’ and other celebrity’s MBTIs. So we decided to choose an archetypal TV/movie character to define each type.

ENTJ - Jack Donaghy. Mr. Donaghy is the epitome of an executive: confident, uncompromising, well-respected, incredibly successful, cunning, caught off guard and occasionally undermined by his emotions.

ENTP - Seth Cohen. Like Seth, ENTPs are the only kind of nerd that ‘normal people’ can relate to/actually want to spend time around. Seth has well-developed, niche interests that are dorky and shared by other unapproachable nerds, but he’s outgoing, attractive, and easygoing in a way that other nerds aren’t and that make him seem quirky rather than weird. He is snobby and discriminating about his tastes/preferences but enjoys standing apart from the mainstream, even though he comfortably exists in it.

INTJ - Stewie Griffin. Stewie is a mastermind, evil genius. He is constantly scheming and has analytical abilities far superior to everyone else. Unfortunately he is almost completely out of touch with other human beings which is occasionally to his downfall, but he’s so calculated he usually gets by. Still, I’m pretty sure the Forever Alone meme is just Stewie in his 40s, so reflect on that for a second…

INTP - Dexter. Oh poor little Dexter. He has such a complex mental life that he is so, so incapable of expressing to any other human being. He just comes off as awkward and kind of weird and maybe even dumb, but really he’s just a normal (actually super smart) guy (minus that murder stuff) who’s just real inarticulate. Fortunately for Dexter he is hot so he’s slightly more socially adept than other not-so-attractive INTPs (i.e. Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcom from the Jurassic Park series).

ENFJ - Dr. Cuddy. List of character traits of Dr. Cuddy, Dr. House’s boss from the hit Fox television drama House M.D.: altruistically manipulative, ‘unitentionally’ sexy, externally tough yet internally vulnerable, quick, witty, petty and vindicitve under stress.

ENFP - Carrie Bradshaw. Selfish while thinking she is the world’s best friend yet still has an intoxicating/fascinating personality that people want to be around, things come easy to her because she so sincerely believes she deserves them, likes to be the center of attention, doesn’t really believe in anything but claims to have strong (albeit ambiguous) philosophies on life, relationships, sexuality, etc.

INFJ - Ally McBeal. Quirky but not really in the adorable way, overthinks everything, has theories and an in-depth analysis to explain every single thing that ever happens in her life and expects other people to interpret/behave according to that metric, is very well-respected for her perseverance in all areas of life, dedication, and intellectual commitment to whatever she puts her mind to. Almost entirely unsuccessful in the dating arena via being introvertedly frightened by every man who pays attention to her and loving from afar people who don’t even know she exists.

INFP - Jordan Catalano. Brooding. Self-indulgent. Takes everything personally. Places art/’meaning’/ideas higher than IRL human relationships. Would rather be moody/tortured than actually having a healthy relationship. Has a vast internal mental life but doesn’t really act on it. Is very sweet and sincere and not a douchebag.

ESFJ - Tami Taylor. Tami is the archetypal matriarch (if you’re a man just think ‘provider’). She is sensible, wholesome, compassionate, and reliable. She’s also a bit wishy-washy and likely to change her view based on what others think and her desire to impress them. At the end of the day she comes off blameless, but she’s not perfect either (in the approchably realistic way).

ESFP - Joey Tribbiani. Loud, stupid, kind, unpretentious, fun, unreflective, uncomplicated, easy to be around, lacks emotional/intellectual depth but you don’t really mind.

ISFJ - Carol Brady. Gender-rolesy to the max. Defferential. Loving. Boring. Lacks personal identity outside of her family.

ISFP - Linus. Dopey, sweet, unassuming, likeable, immature, slightly regressive.

ESTJ - Blair Waldorf. She’s super uptight, super ambitious, super intense, super perfectionist, super others-oriented, super intelligent.

ESTP - Ari Gold. The ultimate people person who can sell anything to anyone. Nothing is sacred to him except his own ability to sell himself/his brand/make money. Will fuck over his own wife/family/friends/clients in the process but at the end of the day seems legitimately committed to his job and the people in his life. The most fucking likable human being on earth.

ISTJ - Bill Compton. Bill the vampire from True Blood that bags Sookie season one is the perfect example of an ISTJ. Traditional without regard to non-traditional circumstances, rigid, legalistic, unemotive, quiet. Generally awful to be around except for his ability to ‘complete tasks’ and ‘do favors.’

ISTP - Jason Borne. Borne is the ultimate risk-taker. He kicks ass because of his ability to combine physical strength/capability with mental expertise. He’s like an unstoppable human machine but is also shitty as fuck at emotions. If he wasn’t some secret service reject (aka was a real person) he’d be best off as like a forest ranger or a gym teacher.

phiLOLZophy: Important Truths for Your Consideration

phiLOLZophy: Important Truths for Your Consideration:
philolzophy:

Drugs don’t make you interesting. Dude, do drugs all you want, but constantly reblogging pictures of “bomb ass weed” and posting diary entries about how you “totally parachuted coke this weekend” do not make you an interesting or unique person. Anyone can do drugs (and most people do), but…
